Default Settings for Stalker X1300 - 04-24-2009, 06:42 AM

I have the game Stalker that I'd like to run on my ThinkPad with the X1300. I'm not a settings guru. It seems to run, but if the settings are too low it looks bad and if they're too high, it's laggy. I guess my question would be, what's the best looking setting that'll run decently? Thanks for any help.

You could try setting the res low to 1280x800 and turning some of the settings up a little higher.

install fraps,set everything to low and start adding them(settings) to find best performance/quality ratio.

That's kind of tough since my machine's resolution is 1400x1050. I went back to XP cause I was having some trouble with some older games. I'll play around with it and see if it works better. Thanks for the help.

I put back the XP image, but interestingly, Stalker won't load even though it did in Vista. It just thinks about it for about five seconds, then goes away like nothing happened. I'm running the latest driver from Lenovo. I have the latest patch. I disabled UAA. I ran CCleaner. Anyone have an idea as to what's going on? Thanks for any help;

Hmm, so are you running the game at 1400x1050? 4:3 aspect ratio? You should still be able to turn the in-game resolution down do something lower, say 1024x768. Then you could crank some settings up to make it look nicer.

Strange, not sure what's happening here. It installed fine in XP?

What driver version are you using? The latest one from Lenovo might not be that great. Here's a direct link to download the latest ones from ATI, for the Mobility Radeon:

Those should work on your notebook.

Thanks for the reply. It seems it may be a moot point as I think I tossed the sleeve for it with the key. I already played it on my desktop, but thought I might give it a try it my notebook. I have other games I haven't played yet for when I got some down time. Thanks again.
